CPU Frequency Scaling
From EpixStudios
Laptop users will often want to control the frequency at which their processor runs. This lets you consume less power when running on batteries.
Under Ubuntu you will need to reconfigure the gnome-applets package:
sudo dpkg-reconfigure gnome-applets
Agree for SETUID as root
You then right-click on a panel and add the CPU Frequency Scaling Monitor applet.
